Comedian Dave Chappelle is set to co-headline Funny or Die’s Oddball Comedy and Curiosity Festival, a five-week, 13-city tour that starts on August 23 in Austin, Texas. Tickets will cost you between $20 to $95, depending on where you want to sit and how cheap you are. The show will also feature Flight of the Conchords, Hannibal Buress, Demetri Martin, Chris D’Elia, Jim Jefferies, and Kristen Schaal.
While we’re sure the other acts are worth seeing — we admittedly never watched Flight of the Conchords on HBO despite hearing very good things — we wouldn’t care so much about this if Chappelle weren’t attached to it. It’s easy to forget that before appearing in movies classics like Robin Hood: Men in Tights, Half Baked, and , uh, Undercover Brother, or starring in Chappelle’s Show before an extremely messy and public meltdown exit back in 2005, Chappelle made his bones as a stand-up comic. And his previous stand-up comedy specials were all incredibly funny, so if his new material is as good as some of his older gems, we’ll happily pay the price of admission. Or if we’re busy when he’s in town, we’ll just wait to watch it on YouTube. Point is, we like Dave Chappelle.
