Encouraging Batboys To Partake In Milk Challenges — In 2005 then-Florida Marlins pitcher Brad Penny offered the team’s batboy $500 to partake in the “milk challenge.” For those unaware of what that is — and we’re jealous of your ignorance to this — it’s where the participant has to chug a gallon of milk in less than 60 minutes without puking. Unsurprisingly, the batboy failed the challenge, not because he barfed, but because time ran out. So the kid forfeited the $500. And when team officials caught wind of he stunt they suspended the batboy six games.
Penny told the Miami Herald:
“It’s kind of ridiculous that you get a 10-game suspension for steroids and a six-game suspension for milk,” Penny told the Herald.
