2012 Holiday Gift Guide: Cars and Electronics

Lexus IS FLexus IS F ($60,000)
Thanks to its 416 hp V8 power plant under the hood, this unassuming sedan does 0-60 in just 4.6-seconds and hits a top-speed of about 170 mph. But this isn’t some boy-racer rocket. Inside you’ll find an extremely well-appointed luxury car with Mark Levinson surround-sound speakers, voice-activated navigation, and the Lexus Enform suite, which allows you to install apps directly into the car’s onboard computer. The IS F starts around $60,000, making it a serious contender to the BMW M3.

Finally, a set of awesome-looking Bluetooth headphones. Harmon/Kardon’s wireless cans sport a unique rectangular shape and a built-in microphone so you can use them to make calls. But the sound quality is truly what sets them apart from the pack; the Bluetooth connection provides a strong, high-quality stream of your music, which is delivered through big drivers that can make just about anything sound good. Except Limp Bizkit.

Griffin Moto TC MonsterGriffin Moto TC Monster ($60)
Until we can all use our smartphones and tablets to control actual monster trucks, this little RC version will have to do. The Moto TC Monster is an RC beast that takes its orders via Bluetooth from an iPhone or iPad. The app is free and lets you drive the truck around virtual courses or steer and accelerate wildly without rhyme or reason. You can even go on their site and download printable racetrack accessories that’ll turn your living room into a monster truck track. Your cat should be very scared.
