LESSON 3: Take Care of Your Ride
Al’s whip was an ancient Dodge (before you correct us, yes, his “Dodge” was actually a Plymouth; we know a thing or two about cars) that frequently broke down and rarely had functioning brakes. That’s what happens to a car when you pay it no attention. Basic maintenance can go a long way when it comes to keeping your ride running smooth, so here are a few things to keep in mind:
*Changing your oil every 3,000 miles is unnecessary; most manufacturers suggest doing so ever 5,000 to 7,000 miles.
*Maximize tire life by rotating them twice a year, or every 6,000 miles.
*Wash your car regularly to remove road salt, grease, grime, and acidic bird sh*t, all of which can ruin paint and corrode metal.
*Change the air filter every 10,000 to 12,000 miles. They’re inexpensive, easy to replace, and can save you money on fuel costs. The more clogged the air filter gets, the less efficient your car runs.
