Badass Mission: Maximus, a brilliant Roman general, is handpicked by the dying emperor to become the new ruler of the empire. But when the emperor’s creepy son Commodus finds out, he murders his own father and has Maximus’s wife and son crucified — however, a wounded Maximus escapes. He finds himself sold into slavery and forced to fight, and with the help of his gladiator bros, eventually gets a chance for revenge.
Most Badass Moment: It didn’t even happen on film: Oliver Reed, long known for being an epic drinker, died of a heart attack while on a break during filming. He did this (allegedly) after consuming many bottles of beer and rum in a Maltese bar in the midst of beating several sailors at arm wrestling.
