7. Kubrick and Shelley Duvall, who played Wendy, did not get along. Kubrick ordered 127 takes of the scene where Wendy swings a bat at Jack and the film is in the Guinness Book of Records for most retakes of a single scene.
8. Some confusion has existed about which hotel was actually the model for the one depicted in the film. The hotel that was used in the movie was the Stanley Hotel which is located in Estes Park, Colorado. Many believe that this hotel is actually haunted with hotel staff reporting numerous times that voices can be heard coming from the hotel ballroom only to find it empty.
