CELEB: MICHAEL JACKSON
DICTATOR: PRINCE ABDULLAH AL-KHALIFA OF BAHRAIN
WHEN: 2005
In 2005 Michael Jackson spent a few months in the tiny Persian Gulf island of Bahrain with his pal Prince Abdullah al-Khalifa, who loaned the singer millions for legal fees in one of MJ’s child molestation cases. When Jackson failed to repay the loot, the Prince sued the King of Pop. Jackson said it was all a misunderstanding and that the millions given to him were simply “gifts.” Either way, probably not the best idea, since Bahrain has a history of torturing prisoners and violating human rights.
