THE SMURFS
#7. The Smurfs, created in 1958 by Belgian cartoonist, Pierre Culliford, aka Peyo, were turned into zombie-like characters in 1963 in a story called “The Purple Smurfs.” George A. Romero’s Night of the Living Dead premiered in 1968, obviously proving he was an avid fan of the Smurfs — particularly that vixen Smurfette.
#8. Additionally, “The Purple Smurfs” episode is the only time that the bald Smurfs have been seen without their Phrygian caps.
