#4. APERITIFS
Aperitifs can be essential components of a cocktail or simply compliment one. Either way, have some on hand.
• Sweet vermouth: It’s fortified wine a key ingredient in both the Manhattan and the Negroni, making it a key ingredient in your liquor cabinet. Stock up. All vermouths should be kept in the fridge after opening. Expect to pay about $10 for a liter.
• Dry Vermouth: This is the second part of a martini (unless you go without it, which is totally acceptable). Again, it’ll run you about $10 for a liter.
• Campari: A blend of herbs and spices that gives a drink a reddish color and a unique flavor, it’s often mixed with soda water. And it plays an essential role in the Negroni. You’re looking at about $30 or so for this.
