#3. Texts or emails Before 8:00 a.m.
Canceling a meeting last minute or updating a group on something like a surgical procedure? Sending an early text or email is appropriate. Otherwise, stick to business hours. Specifically when it’s something frivolous, an early a.m. message may wake someone up and piss them off. And that can bite you later on if or when you have to deal with them. Same rules apply for late-night texts. Unless it’s a booty call, let it go to nine or so the following morning.

#4. Trash Talk
It’s easy to hide behind a computer or phone screen and dress someone down. If you’re on the receiving end, try your best not to take the bait. Instead, request to meet the person to discuss the issues. That’ll allow them the opportunity to change their tune or provide the opening for you to politely let them know that their bullshit won’t be tolerated. With a co-worker, don’t text or email anything that can be used against you if HR gets involved. For most of you, that’s a no-brainer — but you’d be surprised just how dumb some people are — especially green employees — when it comes to this.
