#3. Vasoline
As part of the second album from Stone Temple Pilots, Purple, “Vasoline” was developed out of Weiland’s increasing problems with drug addiction. The title came from the idea of a fly stuck in Vaseline, slowly suffocating until it dies. It was also partially inspired by the misheard lyrics of the song Life in the Fast Lane from the Eagles, which a childhood Weiland misheard as “flies in the Vasoline.”
