How do you become more productive? Proper rest and prep are good ideas. Same with getting organized. How about taking a key bump with your morning cup of coffee? Okay, maybe skip the coffee. Point is, there are plenty of things you can do to set yourself up for success in the workplace, and research says something that might help is spending a few bucks on an office plant or two.

A study out of the University of Queensland in Australia found that employees with plants were up to 15 percent more productive than nature haters without plant life surrounding them. The research focused on three different workspaces in the United Kingdom and the Netherlands over the span of two months. The findings suggest that, despite believing that a decorated workspace would lead to distraction. Marlon Nieuwehuis, the lead researcher in the study, told the Telegraph:
“This conclusion is at odds with the present economic and political zeitgeist as well as with modern ‘lean’ management techniques, yet it nevertheless identifies a pathway to a more enjoyable, more comfortable and a more profitable form of office-based working.”
