There’s No Quitting In Hockey
Last season, when the cash-strapped Phoenix Coyotes were about to be sold and shipped off to a Canadian city, how did the franchise and players react? They rallied, big time. A team everyone had written off nabbed the 4th seed in the Western Conference and pushed the mighty Detroit Red Wings to seven games in the first round. Compare that to the New Jersey Nets. Betting on a move to Brooklyn, they actually removed the words “New Jersey” from their road uniforms. Then they gave away opposing-team jerseys. That’s right, fans who bought 10-packs of tickets were given five reversible jerseys: Nets players on one side to keep up appearances, and guys like Kobe, KG, and Lebron on the other.
